How does a dual speed focuser work?
A dual speed focuser can provide two focusing speeds by using a set of co-axial knobs, one for fast focusing and another for fine focusing when the film or CCD is near the perfect focal plane. This is different from the two separate focusing knobs seen on low level microscopes.
How do I choose a telescope focuser?
If you want to select the best telescope focuser, know the basic focusing systems for your type of telescope, select among several focuser configurations, and decide how high-tech you want to go. A quality telescope focuser can make a big difference when it comes to viewing stars.
How does a Crayford focuser work?
The Crayford design moves the focuser drawtube by applying high pressure on a metal drive shaft that in turn presses against a flat surface machined into the metal focuser drawtube. The drawtube is held in place by sets of bearings on the opposite side of the drawtube from the drive shaft.
How do you adjust a Crayford focuser?
First, loosen the counterscrew, focus stopping screw and the two screws to the left and right of the tension adjustment screw in the middle of the crayford focuser bearing plate. Then tighten (or loosen) the tension adjustment screw, so that the focuser tube does have a good grip and does not slide by itself.
What is a focuser used for?
An apparatus used to adjust the focal length of an optical system in order to make an image distinct or clear: a camera with automatic focus.
What is a focuser telescope?
The focuser moves the eyepiece holder up and down slightly, adjusting the focus of the eyepiece for each individual observer. There are friction focusers or rack-and-pinion focusers. Regardless of the type on your telescope, your focuser should move smoothly without causing your telescope to shake.
What can you see with a 130mm telescope?
You will be able to see Moon, Jupiter, Mercury(looks like a star), Venus, Saturn pretty well. Mars would be disappointing a bit. Its too small. You will get 65x with a 10 mm.
What does a focuser do?
How does a helical focuser work?
Helical focusers work by turning a ring to focus as we do when using a conventional camera (at least in manual focus mode). A true helical focuser works like a camera – when you turn the focusing ring, neither the lens nor the camera (or eyepiece and diagonal) rotate. The only motion is in and out.
What does focuser mean?
A device which allows one to adjust the focus of an instrument such as a telescope. I decided to upgrade my telescope with a feather-touch focuser. noun.
Why upgrade to the Sky-Watcher dual speed focuser?
This excellent smooth dual speed replacement focuser suits Sky-Watcher Newtonian telescopes. Especially if you’re in to lunar and planetary imaging with an f/5 newtonian then this focuser is a must have upgrade. Now you can replace your old Sky-Watcher Rack n Pinion or single speed Crayford style focuser to achieve finer focusing capability.
Can I replace the focuser on my Sky-Watcher Newtonian telescope?
Now you can replace your old Sky-Watcher Rack n Pinion or single speed Crayford style focuser to achieve finer focusing capability. Also suitable for DIY telescope projects. This excellent smooth dual speed replacement focuser (10:1 gear ratio) suits Sky-Watcher Newtonian telescopes.
What is the best auto focuser for the SkyMax 150?
Skywatcher Auto Focuser. I bought this to use with my new Skymax 150 and after making up a custom mount and fittings I have it working nicely. Nice focuser for the Mak, good micro focus. Got this to help focusing my skywatcher 200pds during astrophotography.
Can a dual speed focuser be fitted to a 200pds?
However the 200pds is fitted with a duel speed focuser with the twin knob side the only removable ones. This means the motor bracket doesn’t quite fit so can only be fitted on the last 2 screw holes, and only can be attached to the low speed. Not ideal but at least I can focus so slowly now I can get pin point accuracy.
